In the March 26, 2018, issue of Phi Delta Kappan, Debra E. Kachel and I published a meta-analysis of the past 3 decades of school library impact studies titled Why school librarians matter: What years of research tell us. We also recapped our articles for School Library Journal under the “School Librarian State of the Union” banner. We are grateful that the editors of PDK dedicated an issue of their publication to the other adults who matter in schools–the educational professionals other than classroom teachers.
