It’s that time of year again! The December issue of Library Journal includes the 2020 edition of Star Libraries based on the LJ Index of Public Library Service. This year, there are two notable changes:
First, a seventh per-capita statistic was added to the Index this year: successful retrievals of electronic information, or, for short, e-retrievals. This count includes use of online databases and streaming media.
Second, in addition to several criteria for being rated on the LJ Index, there are now outlier criteria which deny consideration for Star Library status to any library reporting a highly extreme value that accounts for half or more of the LJ Index score.
