The Colorado State Library is the lead sponsor of an exciting event coming up next summer: the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL). Mark your calendar for July 27-30, 2015, and plan on several days of thought-provoking, skill-building, hands-on experiences that are not to be missed. If you do management research for one or more public libraries, this event is designed with you in mind. The opportunities for face-to-face networking and the support for post-event projects are going to be superior. Other sponsors include the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Library Research Service (LRS), and the Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC).
I will be one of the speakers, talking about the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service that is the basis for LJ’s annual Star Library ratings, usually published as the cover story in LJ’s November issue.
In addition to being a great opportunity to learn more about major national projects like The Edge Initiative, the Impact Survey, and the Public Library Association’s Performance Measures Task Force, it is also an opportunity to learn how to design and pursue your own customized projects locally.
