According to Swampscott Patch, middle and high schools in that Massachusetts community are having recently cut librarian positions restored. The multi-year plan will restore librarian positions at middle and high school levels first, then restore elementary librarian positions that were cut some time ago.
One of the studies cited to justify these actions is How Pennsylvania School Libraries Pay Off: Investments in Student Achievement and Academic Standards. That study’s full report may be accessed here.
Absolutely fantastic!!
BTW, I included the Library Research Service in a PPT I recently shared called Where to Find Library Marketing Info. (http://www.slideshare.net/KathyDempsey/where-to-find-library-marketing-info) Keep up the great work!
Glad you were as pleased by this news as I was, Kathy.
Thanks, too, for the praise for my former shop, the Library Research Service. Since retiring from there in 2007, I’ve enjoyed watching LRS continue to produce great work and to cross new frontiers in their approach to their work.
