On October 10, 2018, the Los Angeles Times published Stephen Krashen’s letter to the editor, replying to their Oct 9 opinion piece, Tests scores don’t matter to students’ grades, so of course they haven’t improved enough. In it, he makes the case for schools employing full-time, certified librarians, citing in his own post of his letter–titled Using funding in the right way: School Librarians–many sources, including the March 2018 Phi Delta Kappan article I co-authored with Debra E. Kachel of Antioch University Seattle.
He is a prolific letter writer who challenges what he regards as disinformation about education, reading, and libraries. All of his letters are posted on his “public figure” Facebook page.
