Allison Mackley and John Chrastka of the EveryLibrary Institute have published a report titled School Librarians and the COVID Slide: Librarians at the Heart of School Renewal and Transformation. This report compiles a variety of education and library research to make the case that school librarians have an important role to play in helping students and teachers cope with the disruptions attending the pandemic shutdown of public school buildings and the disruptions to come when they begin to reopen.
Two articles co-authored by Debra E. Kachel of Antioch University Seattle and me are cited in this report:
Latest study: A full-time school librarian makes a critical difference in boosting student achievement, which appeared in the March 7, 2013, issue of School Library Journal, and
Why school librarians matter: What years of research tell us, which appeared in the March 2018 issue of Phi Delta Kappan.
